Margot and Maddie Lowe were on Safari with their guide Witness Mathebule at Arathusa Safari Lodge, located within the Sabi Sand Reserve, when they happened upon a pack of hyenas at a kill. Suddenly the hyenas became wary, and what had been a jovial feast became an edgy and nervous encounter.
Maddie Lowe explained to Latest Sightings how a male lion suddenly burst from the undergrowth and attacked one of the pack.
“The lion and hyena went tumbling in a full summersault. The lion’s powerful jaws closed around the hyena’s head in a deadly grip. The situation appeared dire for the hyena until something remarkable happened. Its clan rushed to its aid,” said Maddie.
The whole event was captured in this stunning footage, which undoubtedly the guests who are from Australia, will be dining on for years to come.
